Breast Lift
Breast Lift, or Mastopexy, is a procedure women consider as changes happen to the appearance of their breasts. With pregnancy, age, breast-feeding and weight changes, the skin elasticity breaks down and often alters the shape of your breasts.
A breast lift may be for you if you’ve become self-conscious of their appearance, or experience difficulty fitting properly into undergarments and clothing. A breast lift is often performed in combination with breast implants (Breast Augmentation) to restore both the appearance and lost volume. A breast lift may also involve reduction or augmentation of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple).
The most important and courageous step is making a consultation appointment and to feel confident and comfortable with whom you choose to perform your procedure. Please contact Medical First Aesthetics to schedule a complimentary consultation with our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons today.
The price of Breast Lift is determined by the procedural needs of the patient. We will provide specific details and pricing for your procedure when you’re here for your consultation.
Yes, it is very common and beneficial for patients to have this combination procedure. During the consultation and assessment, we will cover the procedures available and work with you to determine the best procedure to meet your goals.
How is the procedure done?
Breast lift surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. Incisions are usually around the areola, vertically down from the areola to the breast crease (short scar/lollipop incision). The underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve breast contour and firmness. The nipple and areola are repositioned to a natural, more youthful height. If necessary, enlarged areola are reduced by excising skin at the perimeter. Excess breast skin is removed to compensate for a loss of elasticity.
Sutures are layered deep within the breast tissue to create and support the newly shaped breasts. Sutures, skin adhesives and/or surgical tape may be used to close the skin. Some incision lines resulting from breast lifts are concealed in the natural breast contours; however, others are visible on the breast surface. Incision lines are permanent, but in most cases will fade and significantly improve over time.
What is the recovery time?
Following your Breast Lift procedure, our nursing staff will care for you until you’re well enough to go home. We provide post-operative instructions to care for your incisions, instruction on proper pain medication, and make follow up appointments for you throughout the following weeks. You will be provided a support garment to aid in the swelling and discomfort. Most patients find the recovery process tolerable and return to normal activities within a couple of weeks.
