Facelift

Facelift_MedicalOneNYRhytidectomy, or a Facelift, is much more common today than ever. The reality is this; it takes years off the appearance of an aging face and neck, and provides a beautiful and natural restoration. When the jawline is no longer well defined and the neck has more laxity then you’d like, there is no greater correction than what can be achieved with a facelift, mini lift, or neck lift.
The younger you are, the more subtle facial rejuvenation results are with a facelift, mini lift, or neck lift. Our patients are healthy people with realistic expectations and are anywhere from later 30’s to 80’s. While there are many non-surgical procedures available to help improve appearance of aging, it may be a better investment and a more lasting correction to elect surgical facial rejuvenation. Most important is that you find the right procedure to meet your goals and feel most comfortable with whom you select to perform your facelift procedure.
The more we can educate you on facelift, mini facelift, and neck lift procedure options available, the better we can work together with you to select the appropriate procedure. Facelift Q&A

What is the recovery time following a facelift?
Following a facelift, whether under sedation and local, or general anesthesia, you will be allowed to go home the same day. You will be bandaged and require a driver to get you home for the first evening and then back again the next day to remove initial bandages.
We will provide you with a support garment to aid during your recovery. You will have expected swelling, mild to moderate discomfort, and you may experience bruising. We provide post-care instructions, pain medication to aid in initial first days, and send you home to recover for a few more days. Sutures are traditionally in place for a week and you will want to have limited exposure to work and social atmosphere while wearing the compression head garment, etc. Continued healing takes place for several weeks, however, many patients return to work and most regular activities within a week or two.
Is facelift surgery painful?
Most patients would not describe the post-surgery experience as painful, however some discomfort and irritation is common. Rest, prescription pain medication and/or OTC (over the counter) Tylenol is often enough to provide relief. Ice packs, elevating the head during rest periods, and avoiding strenuous activities and weight lifting should be expected for the first two weeks.
