Abdominoplasty, or a Tummy Tuck procedure, is often ideal for women who have excess skin following pregnancies, men and women who’ve experienced significant weight loss, and many who find their skin lax and stomach muscles loose or misshapen with age.
The Tummy Tuck patients say this procedure offers significant improvement. More importantly is the direct increase of self-confidence, which has raised the overall satisfaction in patients who choose abdominoplasty.
Abdominoplasty may involve removing excess skin, excess fatty tissue and skin, and may involve tightening of the muscle wall. In every case, the results will be a more contoured torso. This means the range of options are available from those who require more extended procedures to those who may benefit from a mini- tuck. Every Tummy Tuck involves an incision in the lower abdomen, placed where it will be hidden in undergarments and bikini bottoms.
The more we can educate you on Tummy Tuck and mini tuck treatment options available, the better we can work together with you to select the appropriate abdominoplasty procedure. Tummy Tuck Q&A

What is the recovery time following a Tummy Tuck?
The day of surgery, you will be cared for in recovery by our nursing staff. When you’re feeling well enough to go home, you will be released (the same day). We will see you back in the clinic the following day. You will be provided detailed instructions to care for your incision lines, weight lifting and exercise guidelines. Pain medication and a compression garment will aid in the initial discomfort. Some patients feel quite well within the first 2 weeks following surgery, however we will be monitoring your recovery for up to 6 weeks with periodic follow-up appointments. With this procedure, it is expected that you will have some swelling, moderate discomfort, and experience temporary bruising.

Is Tummy Tuck surgery painful?
Most patients would describe the post-surgery experience as uncomfortable, however less uncomfortable every day. Prescription pain medication and the compression garment will aid in reducing pain and swelling. The incision itself is not as uncomfortable; this area is often numb initially following the procedure. The nerve endings do recover over time, however some loss of sensitivity near the incision has been reported.
