Rhinoplasty_MedicalOneNYRhinoplasty, “nose surgery”, or “nose job,” is rising in popularity every year and is not only considered by those who want an aesthetic or cosmetic change, but also pursued by those who have trouble breathing or medical issues related to the structure of their nose.
A nose job, nose surgery, of any kind is a delicate and detailed procedure. We all feel vulnerable and fearful of change to a prominent facial feature.
The first step is to start with a consultation to learn about the options available to you. It is most important to feel comfortable and confident in the knowledge and understanding of the surgeon who will perform your procedure.

Advantages of Rhinoplasty are:

  • Change the sloping angle of the nose
  • Enlarge or Reduce size of nasal passages
  • Narrow or widen the nose (horizontally)
  • Reduce the size or length of the nose
  • Remove bumps and correct bridge contour irregularities

Rhinoplasty Q&A

What is the recovery time following Rhinoplasty?
Most patients will take a week away from their office or social schedule during the time they scheduled a nose job. The procedure commonly involves changes made to your bone and cartilage underlying the skin. Incisions are common, but discreet, most often located in the nostrils. Following your procedure, a splint and dressing will be worn for a week (average time frame), and swelling and bruising in the nose and eye area should be expected. We provide post operative instruction and make follow up appointments to monitor your healing process.

Is a Nose Job painful?
Most patients would not describe the post-surgery experience as painful, however some discomfort and irritation is common. OTC (over the counter) Tylenol is often enough to provide some relief, as well as ice packs, elevating the head during rest periods, and temporary restrictions of exercise and weight lifting. Many normal activities are common just a few days following the procedure.
How long do results last from Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)?

Most people have a single procedure in their lifetime. If there are medical concerns or unique circumstances, it’s possible that additional surgery would be pursued.
