Liposuction

We have all had an opinion and a variety of feelings about cosmetic procedures such as liposuction. We may go from thinking of it as “the easy way out” to “icing on the cake” when we’ve worked hard to live a healthy lifestyle and still don’t feel good about a troubled area or the way our clothing fits our bodies. We feel differently about liposuction when it’s appropriate for us and it takes us from feeling good to feeling great about ourselves.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that safely sculpts and refines body contours. By physically eliminating unwanted fat in areas of fullness, liposuction can create a more symmetric and lean figure. Because fat is aspirated (removed) from your body during the procedure, you can anticipate near immediate gratification from the surgery and continued improvement as your body further heals.
Liposuction can be performed in so many areas:
  • Chin
  • Arms
  • Knees
  • Inner and/or Outer thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Waist/Hips
  • Male Chest
  • Bra/Back area
The more we can educate you on body contouring treatment options available, the better we can work together with you to select the appropriate procedure. With options available for non-surgical fat reduction, to the ability to combine liposuction with add’l procedures such as the tummy tuck or chin liposuction and a facelift, we have much to discuss and can’t wait to meet with you.

Liposuction Q&A

What is the recovery time following Liposuction?
Following your procedure, you will go home to rest. A compression garment, prescription pain medication, and post-care instructions will be provided to you. The discomfort is usually well tolerated with the assistance of pain medication for the first 24-48 hours, and OTC (over the counter) pain medication for a few days. Post procedure swelling and some bruising is to be expected. The body will take time to heal completely from the surgery, but most patients resume most normal activities within a few days to a week, wearing the support garment continually during active hours for at least a week, most commonly up to 2-3 weeks.

Is Liposuction surgery painful?
Most patients would describe the post-surgery experience as uncomfortable. Prescription pain medication and the compression garment aid significantly during the initial 48 hours. The area treated often becomes numb temporarily due to disruption of the nerve endings. Sensation returns traditionally over the next several weeks.
